# Choosing the Right Shutter Style for a Shropshire Home
20 March 20263 min read

Most shutter projects come down to four configurations, and the right one is usually decided by how you use the room and how much privacy you want at eye level.

Full-height shutters cover the whole window in one panel and are the cleanest, most contemporary look. They suit modern uPVC casements, tall Georgian sashes and anywhere you want a single uninterrupted line.

Café-style shutters cover only the lower half of the window. They give privacy from the street while leaving the top open for light, which works beautifully on cottage windows facing onto a lane or pavement in towns like Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Tier-on-tier shutters split the window into two independent sets of panels. You can close the bottom for privacy, open the top for light, or close everything for full blackout. They are the most flexible choice for sash windows and bay windows.

Solid panel shutters use timber rather than louvres and are made for period properties and bedrooms where blackout and insulation matter more than airflow.

If you are unsure which style fits your room, a home survey is the quickest way to decide. We bring samples, measure every opening and talk through the options on site, with no obligation to proceed.
